Identification marks on tags and components. Treat the alloy, coating and required marking result as separate inputs.
Discuss: fiber marking and surface requirements
Explore metal marking| Family | Application to discuss | What to verify | Next guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| PMMA acrylic | Engraving or cut profile | Grade, thickness, protective film, desired finish | Acrylic |
| Wood / plywood | Engraved surface or cut shape | Species or board construction, adhesives, coatings | Wood |
| Laser-grade sheets | Contrast engraving and permitted profiling | Exact cap/core construction and supplier-approved process | Engraving sheets |
| Coated / bare metal | Identification or surface marking | Alloy, coating and durability criterion | Metal marking |
This matrix organizes a discussion, not a machine qualification.
Include the material product code and documentation, dimensions, artwork, processing location and the result you will inspect. A convenient substitute may not represent the intended workpiece.
Confirm composition and the equipment manufacturer’s guidance before any processing trial. Trotec lists PVC and PTFE among unsuitable materials for its laser processing. An unidentified plastic is not an appropriate way to discover its composition.
Read Trotec’s material restrictions. For general process distinctions, consult Epilog’s material compatibility guidance.
Share its product code, surface and intended result. Start with the workpiece, then discuss the equipment.
